This 4-hour online course provides an overview of the National Flood Insurance Program''s Letter of Map Change Process. A thorough, step by step analysis and description of the Letter of Map Change process will be discussed including the requirements for Letters of Map Revision/Amendment, Conditional Letters of Map Revision/Amendment, and Letters of Map Revision based of Fill Letters of Determination Review (LODR). This course also begins with an overview of how to find and use data found in a Flood Insurance Study (FIS). A detailed description of how to locate properties on floodplain maps and how to determine flood zones and restrictions to the use of property will be included. There will be a multiple-choice quiz at the end of this course. Upon completion of this course, the user will be able to: - Understand and use the data provided in the Flood Insurance Study to make accurate determinations of flood risk of property.
- Accurately locate a property on a Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) or a Flood Hazard Floodway Boundary Map (FHFB) and determine the restrictions to development on the property (Base Flood Elevations, floodway location, etc).
- Gain a thorough knowledge of Letters of Map Change including which type should be applied for, a step-by-step explanation of how to fill out the forms and an explanation of the time to be expected for approval and costs.
